Caregiver Coaching

At Symphony Care Management we understand how difficult it is to be a caregiver.

As the child of aging parents or as a caregiver to your spouse, we know you are trying your best to respect their wishes and often are doing whatever you can to help them remain at home. However, a decline in function and safety can be insidious and it’s not always easy to know the right thing to do.

Should I Seek Help?

Because of family history and the inherent nature of the parent-child relationship, it is often hard to see the reality of the situation. Even when concerned family members do notice some troubling issues, they often do not know when or how to intervene.

It can be overwhelming to try to manage the situation on your own. We often receive phone calls from our clients’ spouse or children asking for help when a parent or loved one becomes unsafe and we are here to help.

To Whom Can I Turn?

There are so many different types of care and providers in the eldercare market place. How do you know whom to hire?

At the core of caregiver coaching is the ability of an expert Symphony Care Manager to give you a candid assessment of the situation and an understanding of your full range of options based on care needs, finances, location and many other complex factors that go into our recommendations. Often, caregiver coaching means giving the family effective strategies for a parent who has Alzheimer’s or a related disorder who cannot see their own deficits and therefore is resistant to support.

Caregiver coaching requires building a trusting partnership with you as the primary caregiver. Your personal Symphony Care Manager gets to know all parties and tailors the structure and strategies to work for each unique situation. Often, you just need the right tools and the right providers. As Aging Life Care Professionals® our role is to educate and support you so you can continue to work in your loved one’s best interest.
